The Good: The HP Photosmart Premium C410a delivers respectable output speed and strong print quality across text, graphics, and photo prints, and features like ePrint and AirPrint increase its utility.

The Bad: The Photosmart Premium C410a's main paper tray can only hold 125 sheets, its status LCD is tiny, and the print apps are of questionable value.

HP C410a

The scanner has not functioned on this all-in-one device since I first purchased it. I have followed all of the diagnostic recommendations from HP and it has still not fixed the problem. The diagnostics keep saying certain software is not installed, despite the fact that I have the shortcuts on my desktop and I can bring up those programs. The HP solution is to uninstall and reinstall the software. I have done this repeatedly, both from the disk and from the software downloaded directly from the HP site.

When I attempted to contact tech support I was disconnected before even reaching a live human being.

The final straw was when the device showed I was low on ink on the computer screen. Since I had a $50.00 certificate from HP it made sense to order the ink from HP and use the credit. I was sent the wrong ink cartridge for my printer. When I discovered this and called HP they promised to send the correct cartridges via Next Day Air.

When I checked the order today, not only did they not send the ink via Next Day Air, but they sent another set of wrong cartridges. I specifically mentioned to the HP representative that I had a C410a. One would assume that HP knows what cartridges go with their various printers. This is obviously not the case.

Based on all of the above, I cannot recommend this printer, nor can I recommend HP.
