Microsoft Word 2007

No Rating 10

1 Review | About the ZDNet Score

If you're ready to let go of old habits from previous versions of Word and want to make sleeker-looking documents, Microsoft Word 2007 is worth the upgrade. However, less-expensive alternatives handle its core features without the clutter.

    CNET Review

    February 6, 2007 | 4:07 PM PST

The Good: Microsoft Word 2007 adds built-in blogging and live previews of font and image styles; better displays complex features such as those for references and mass mailing; introduces new, smaller file formats; improves document security; integrates with other applications.

The Bad: Word 2007 moves all of its commands; contextual tabs and style galleries can be distracting; new Word file formats require converters in order to be opened in Word 2000 through 2003; no free way to save work to the Web.

The Bottom Line: If you're ready to let go of old habits from previous versions of Word and want to make sleeker-looking documents, Microsoft Word 2007 is worth the upgrade. However, less-expensive alternatives handle its core features without the clutter.

Microsoft Office 2007 Sucks!
caesarmoridon@... 1st Mar 2009
Microsoft and their ever-growing stupidity is amazing. They have once again alienated their users with the stupidest updates and revisions. Office 2007 is not only an example of this pathetic streak, but the pinnacle. As bad as Vista and 7 are proving to be, they cannot match wits with this dolt of a program. Every feature is like a new experience in pain. You do not alter things to make them worse, less featured and more annoying, unless you are Microsoft. Good Lord I hate this company more each day. They started screwing up things with WMP11 which has half the quality features of 10, then they climax with Office 2007. Amazing!

Honestly what were they thinking

How on earth did they manage to make such a simple program so hard to use? The interface is horrible, and it's impossible to find anything when you want to do anything that would be easy on, say, Word 2003.

If you are a power user of Word 2003 (keyboard commands, advanced image manipulation), AVOID Word 2007. The vast majority of the keyboard commands have been changed or abandoned. EVERYTHING IS MOUSE DRIVEN and Word 2007 expects you to use its defaults! Micro$oft assumes its end users are idiots, which is unfortunate for power users.
