Nook Kids for iPad app gets updated alongside Nook for iPhone
One of the highlights of the Nook Color is just how kid-friendly it is. Barnes & Noble has brought the same fun to the iPad, now with some improvements for that app as well as the Nook for iPhone app.

CNET Review
The Good: In an act of aggressive tech convergence, Apple has consolidated your Netbook, e-reader, gaming device, photo frame, and iPod into an elegant, affordable supergadget. Features such as Bluetooth, 802.11n Wi-Fi, movie rentals, 10 hours of battery life, optional 3G wireless, and the most-celebrated App Store on the planet have us pretty worked up.
The Bad: The iPad's large size is as much a hindrance as it is an advantage. As a jack-of-all-trades and a master of few, the iPad can't entirely mimic many of the specialized products it seeks to replace. The iPad's lack of front or rear cameras, Flash support, and integrated HD video output already have us pining for next year's model.
The Bottom Line: The Apple iPad is the first affordable tablet computer worth owning, but it won't (yet) replace your laptop.

The first affordable tablet?
Seriously, I think you guys need to pay me as a researcher. Within about 10 seconds I found several ACTUAL TABLET computers that are equal or less money running full blown operating systems (Linux or Windows 7) and available from several major manufacturers. The iPad is more like the 10th or 15th affordable tablet.

RE: Apple iPad (16GB)
no, my roommate does own one. what's better about a normal tablet or netbook? 1. USB.. duh.. pen drive? no. external drive? no. sync other devices? no. 2. No printing support. 3. Close OS. you cant put your fav operating system on it (yet) and run your favorite "apps" (glorified programs). The games arent that great either. 4. No multitasking. Pandora, word processor, excel, email, and internet all at once? No.
Ok, so it does alot of fun things. My girlfriend has one and i spend (waste) lots of time on it. The simple games are fun, the internet is smooth and easy to browse with the touch interface. It's light and has excellent battery life. But for about 100 dollars less for the base model, I get my choice of OS (windows 7 premium or linux), i can print, run multiple programs, have a real keyboard that i dont have to lug with me, and play alot more games that im used to than on the ipad. I can transfer files with a USB drive, burn cds or listen to cds, use an external HDD, and even plug right into my switch for 10x faster network connectivity. So basically, its a glorified iPod touch (a 500 dollar toy)...

RE: Apple iPad (16GB)
Looked at the IPad and bought a Satellite T115D-S1120RD much more flexibility, AMD processor, storage 250GB hard drive, small foot print 11.6 screen, great graphics and all kinds of ports including a HDMI for $449.00 so I give some battery life at least I can change out the battery.

RE: Apple iPad (16GB)
it's the same as the iTouch, just an over-sized Palm pilot. why waste $500 on this POS. A glass screen that generates glare galore. No FLASH... and the issues just keep going on and on and on and... I would choose 0 stars if I could.

RE: Apple iPad (16GB)
They call the Ipad double inferior for a reason. It can't multitask and has no flash, which means you can't view 20% of the sites on the web. I looked into one and was appalled by the features it lacked. I wager nobody in the US is using it for serious business or graphic tasks.
However, I have heard from some tech guys that is makes a good ping pong paddle. Really, I saw them playing table tennis with it.

ebooks on the ipad
myPadMedia is a service that allows the download of novels, comic books and newspapers in electronic form. It is aimed specifically at the Apple iPad, but can be used with the iPhone and iPod touch too. In addition to the obvious convenience of reading content in electronic form instead of leafing through a physical book, the myPadMedia service also saves you time and money.

Loving my ipad.
I don't know if I'm an elitist snob or not, but I feel pretty awesome on my ipad. There are kabillions of apps, and really it's just fun to use.
I put a cool skin on mine too so it looks great.

RE: Apple iPad (16GB)
I think the prestige of being an Ipad owner is what people will be buying into. Apple will try and sell this as buying into a lifestyle rather than just purely a product. If its features your after then I agree that getting a proper tablet PC may be the more sensible if less flashy option

RE: People who do not own one do not understand. (period)
It is not meant to have USB (which the dock can accomidate), replace ur laptop, serve as your phone, etc etc.
It delivers exactly what I need - a replacement for an organizer. A lightweight, all day, easily used interface, huge developer base and application library which doubles fine as a newsreader and basic entertainment device that travels amazingly well.
If you want a laptop in a tablet, buy another device. If you want to tinker with the device as a techie, buy another device. I am a M$ developer, enjoy *nix but I understand that this is NOT for those audiences. It is a no-hassle, always works, easy to surf on device (Flash isn't on as many consumable sites as people cry about apart from Ads and Firefox already had plugins which achieve the same effect everyone seams to skip over)
I hate Jobs with his dictator-like tendencies but he gets a well-deserved check in the win column. He spanked EVERYONE with getting the OS right on the device which everyone had a decade to get right. Plus the touch interface works how they all should work and most ALL still fail to reproduce. Do I want the competitors to win? Sure but until then, Apple is doing it right. It is their lead to lose and Job's ain't going to make it easy for them (which I for one am glad)
