RIM Australia has confirmed that managing director Ray Gillenwater has left the company "to pursue other opportunities".
RIM confirmed in a statement today that he had left the company. RIM also announced that ex-Vodafone and Microsoft Australia marketing executive Matthew Ball, who joined the company in 2011 according to LinkedIn, will be the new MD.
"RIM is pleased to confirm that Matthew Ball has accepted the post of managing director for Australia & New Zealand. Matthew has a wealth of experience in the technology and telecommunications sector and, before this appointment, he held the role of director of country marketing for Australia at RIM."
Gillenwater took over in April, after previously working as the RIM Philippines country director, as well as other various positions at RIM in North America and in South East Asia.
RIM installed Gillenwater, to replace long-serving managing director Adele Beachley, who suddenly departed the company in February.
The departure comes as the company struggles across the globe. In the past 30 days, it has seen US$2 billion wiped off its market capitalisation. Global CEO Thorsten Heins has insisted that the company has improved since he took over as CEO, and is not "in a death spiral".
