Benioff made the announcement during his keynote speech at the Dreamforce conference in San Francisco. His words indicate that Salesforce is building a full cloud development stack to go along with the launch of Database.com, which was also announced on Tuesday.

Appforce will focus on app development, while Siteforce will be a cloud system to build sites. Benioff also announced a partnership with VMware called VMforce. Overall, the big message from the Salesforce chief executive was change. The company is focusing on clouds ranging from sales and service to collaboration, development and databases. The approach represents a full frontal assault on competitors such as Oracle and SAP.
