Salesforce launched a new Salesforce1 Mobile App that includes improved dashboard drilldowns, community features, offline data access and connectors to SAP data and internal enterprise systems.
The launch, part of Salesforce's effort to enable enterprises to create and use more business apps, includes 30 features so enterprises can manage processes for sales, service, and marketing from mobile devices.
In many ways the Salesforce1 Mobile App is designed to be a white label base that enterprises can customize with their own skin and features. "We have a clear indication that customers are taking the app and branding it and adding custom actions," said Michael Peachey, senior director of mobile products at Salesforce.
Salesforce's goal is to provide a business app that's akin to Facebook's in terms of usage and ease of use.
Among the key features:
- Connectors to back-end data. Informatica and Mulesoft are providing connectors to SAP data and systems so back office information can meld with what Salesforce holds. Peachey said SAP connectors are in the first wave, but Salesforce doesn't have Oracle yet.
- Support for Windows 8, BlackBerry Z10, and Good Access Secure mobile browsers to access the Salesforce1 Mobile App. Salesforce1 Mobile App also delivers notifications to Samsung wearable devices. The app is available for iOS and Android, but the browser support provides more access options.
- Direct access to reports and dashboards as well as communities offline and online. Marketing collateral will also be available on the app.
- Question and answer, email, and social support for service agents.
