SAP, SAS forge analytics, HANA partnership

SAP and SAS said they have entered a partnership to create a joint in-memory technology and product roadmap. The aim is to run SAS' analytics software on SAP's HANA platform.

The partnership, outlined at SAP TechEd in Las Vegas, revolves around applying SAS' industry specific algorithms on SAP HANA.

In a statement, the companies said that the collaboration will help joint customers run big data applications and workloads.

Here are the specifics of the partnership.

  • The two companies will prioritize the joint technologies throughout 2014.
  • Industries such as financial services, telecommunications, retail, consumer products and manufacturing are prioritized.
  • Customer intelligence, risk management, asset management and anti-fraud efforts are key uses.
  • The two companies will co-sell a pilot program and pick joint customers.

SAP sees HANA as one of its key growth engines. For 2013, SAP sees HANA software revenue in the range of
€650 million to €700 million, up from €392 million in 2012. SAP made the projections on its third quarter earnings conference call.
