Technology companies often use their own products to consolidate data centers and then develop case studies and iron out product details. For SAP, which has made a cloud computing bet that largely revolves around HANA, the stakes may be a bit higher.

So far, SAP said it has moved Ariba Spend Visibility to the SAP HANA platform. The next step will be to move Ariba's entire business-to-business trading network to SAP HANA.

However, customers probably won't care until they see HANA really improve Ariba's analytics capabilities. SAP is promising the following:

  • Faster data load times
  • Sourcing analysis on the fly
  • Visualization tools
  • Supplier access to complete transaction history with analytics for payment cycles and invoice turnaround times

SAP said the new HANA-powered Ariba tolls will be previewed at SAP's Sapphire conference in Orlando June 3-5 in Orlando.
