Facebook strikes back at SMS-reading Android claims

Facebook has reacted angrily to claims that it reads Android users' text messages, arguing that the social network is only doing so for a small pool of people testing out a new feature.The Sunday Times published an article on Sunday in which it pointed out that many apps require users to grant access to private information stored on their smartphones.

F-Secure: Android SMS dialler uses obfuscation

A piece of Android malware that sends premium rate text messages uses code embedded in a picture file to hide its function from security researchers and the Android app store, according to security company F-Secure.The malware, which F-Secure has called 'Trojan:Android/FakeRegSMS.

Android opens up to 'British English'

Google has made it possible for people to control their Android phones and tablet using spoken 'British English'.The software company introduced a tool called Voice Actions for Android in the US last year, allowing users to verbally direct their device to send a text to a contact, go to a website, or get directions to somewhere on Google Maps.

Report: Apple wants to cut Samsung's EU Android supply

Apple is trying to cut off Samsung's supply of Galaxy Android tablets and smartphones to Europe by going after the Korean company's logistics and import subsidiaries, a website has claimed.On Thursday, the Dutch publication Webwereld reported that it had seen Apple's application to have the Galaxy range banned in the Netherlands for allegedly infringing on the intellectual property of Apple's iPhones and iPads.
