HP EliteBook 8560w Mobile Workstation

The EliteBook 8560w is a well-built 15.6in. mobile workstation that can be configured with top-notch components, making it ideal for CPU-, GPU- and memory-intensive workloads. It's not especially portable, though, and battery life is among its least impressive features.

Apple MacBook Air 2010 (13.3in.)

We like the 13.3in. MacBook Air's slimline design, high-resolution screen, fast boot time and long battery life. If the price and one or two feature omissions don't put you off, it's a great notebook to use and to be seen using.

Acer launches new Aspire laptops

Acer has refreshed its Aspire laptop range to incorporate Intel’s Core range of processors, launched a new Timeline X range and introduced the Aspire Ethos high-end entertainment model.Timeline was launched as a thin-and-light range in 2009 and the new Timeline X is a redesigned version of this incorporating the latest mobile Core CPUs (i3-330M up to i7-620M), beefing up the processing power from the current Core 2 models.

HP offers Core i7 quad-core processor, DreamColor display options for EliteBook 8740w mobile workstation

HP has beefed up its top-of-the-line EliteBook 8740w laptop workstation, packing them with Intel's latest mobile processors and offering the option to outfit it with a 17-inch DreamColor screen, which is a 30-bit panel that can display more than a billion colors (64x more colors than a typical LCD can display).HP has a number of configurations available on its Web site (and lets you configure your own).

Lenovo ThinkPad X100e

The netbook-like ThinkPad X100e has a high-resolution 11.6in. screen and an excellent keyboard. Its AMD Athlon Neo X2 MV-40 processor helps to deliver better performance than the average netbook, but battery life could be longer.
