BMC acquires Emprisa Networks

BMC announced today the acquisition of Emprisa Networks, which provides automated network configuration, compliance and change management software. BMC had been partnering with Emprisa, and the Emprisa E-NetAware is part of BMC's new Service Automation solution, which deals with coordinating and running provisioning and updates; server and network configuration; and the packaging and deployment of software across heterogeneous systems.

And it is with this mantra that Singapore's National Healthcare Group pursues technology.This fervent IT user nominated six different projects for the Public Sector Technology Project of the Year special award, and the Lab Information and Automation System was the clincher.Incorporated in March 2000, the National Healthcare Group (NHG) provides healthcare services through a network of four hospitals--National University Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Alexandra Hospital and Institute of Mental Health--the National Skin Center, four business divisions including NHG Pharmacy and NHG Diagnostics, and three specialty institutes--The Eye Institute, The Cancer Institute and The Heart Institute.After the various healthcare institutions came together to form the NHG cluster, the management team recognized a critical need to consolidate IT operations. The goal was to gain economies of scale by amalgamating resources, and to build a robust infrastructure to enable the seamless flow of data and applications across the cluster.

IBM to outsource with Dutch company

Dutch energy and cable company Essent has inked a four-year outsourcing contract with IBM, Big Blue said Wednesday. IBM will manage Essent's data centers in the Netherlands, as well as handle office automation tasks, including network management.
