Motorola fails to win Microsoft push email ban

A German court has halted an attempt by Motorola to have Microsoft's push email services for Exchange and Hotmail banned over patent infringement.The patent in question is the same one that Motorola asserted against Apple in Germany, a move that successfully saw the push email functionality of iCloud and MobileMe banned in that country.

New Jersey principal deputizes parents as cyber police

This is one from the overstepping-your-bounds-big-time-buddy department: The principal at Benjamin Franklin Middle School in Ridgewood, New Jersey, sent an email to parents Wednesday morning telling them to ban their children from social networks and thoroughly police their electronic communications. This was not a suggestion or even an invitation to start a dialog with kids, parents, and the school about social media and cyberbullying.

PayPal: "No intention" of blocking Safari

In response to my piece yesterday that PayPal may ban Safari for being unsafe, PayPal public relations firm sent me the following email stating in no unspecific terms that "We have absolutely no intention of blocking current versions of any browsers, including Apple’s Safari, from our website."Hi Jason,PayPal is developing features to block customers from logging into PayPal when using obsolete browsers on outdated or unsupported operating systems.
