Apple: Stop the iOS-Mac merger

The fiasco of the Mac iWork revamp continues, despite Apple's recent release of a punch list for missing features and bugs. Management hubris and lack of oversight appear to be the primary wrongdoings here. Still, some of the blame should go to Apple's attempt to merge Mac and iOS interfaces and workflows.

Microsoft patches Office 2003 rights-management bug

On December 11, some Office 2003 users discovered that they couldn't open files that included Microsoft right-management protected content. A day later, Microsoft issued a patch. There is a hotfix for Word 2003 and one for Excel 2003 that are downloadable from Microsoft's Web site designed to fix the issue.

Is four Mac OS launches in 5 years really a good thing?

I suppose if I were an Apple investor and I heard Apple gets away with selling a new OS to its customers nearly every single year, I would be extremely delighted. But since I'm not, I have to wonder how delighted Microsoft users would be if Microsoft had done the same thing and charged for Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 which not only fixed security bugs but also added new features such as leading edge Wireless LAN management technology.
