Microsoft has stopped giving PC manufacturers a stripped-down version of the Office 2010 productivity suite to bundle with their computers.This week Microsoft stopped including Office Starter 2010 in the preinstallation kits it supplies to manufacturers.

HP said Wednesday that it will bundle Citrix's XenDesktop 3 with its blade PCs that reside in data centers.HP's BladeSystem bc2800 and bc2200 Blade PC (statement) are designed to be centralized clients that are controlled by an enterprise.

T-Mobile MDA Compact

Gateway: Buy a PC, buy broadband

Gateway announced on Wednesday it has completed the rollout of broadband service offerings through its Gateway stores across the United States. Gateway stores in cable-serviced areas in the United States now offer high-speed cable Internet service as a part of a PC bundle or as a standalone product. The company started its efforts to roll out high-speed cable access last year and has established relationships with Adelphia, America Online, AT&T Broadband, Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications and EarthLink. Enterasys to use Sygate security software

Enterasys Networks will use security software from Sygate Technologies for its wireless networking products, the companies announced Tuesday. Starting this April, Enterasys will bundle Sygate's firewall protection software with its VPN (Virtual Private Network) software and its wireless PC cards. Enterasys will also sell Sygate's security software. Some major tech companies are betting that wireless networking will take off as people see the convenience of being able to work from wireless devices like a laptop or handheld computer either at home, on the road or in the office without being physically connected to a network. Gateway offers cable Net access deals

Starting Friday, Gateway will begin marketing special offers on Adelphia Communications' Power Link cable Internet service for customers in Southern California. Consumers who buy a new PC or a MusicWare software bundle will qualify to receive three months of service for $19.
