Cathay Pacific dumps IBM for Unisys

Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific will move its core business applications to Unisys' datacentre in the Sydney suburb of Rhodes, after Unisys was awarded the tender previously held by incumbent IBM.Although the airline's passenger reservations, departure control and cargo management applications have been based on Unisys software for more than 20 years, they are currently hosted in an IBM datacentre in the Sydney suburb of North Ryde.

SAP: High demand for ERP in China

A booming manufacturing sector in China is set to boost SAP's business in the country. During the first quarter of 2002, the German business software maker sealed contracts for its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions with Beijing Telecom, pharmaceutical firm Juhua Group, steel manufacturer Jianshu Shagang Steel Group and air cargo firm Emery, among others, SAP said in a statement.
