Cisco to debut Cloud Connect in June

Cisco plans to debut in June a new product called Cloud Connect which will enable secure connectivity between virtualized data centers and across cloud environments. Cisco is working with VMware, Citrix, Red Hat, NetApp and EMC to deliver network and compute solutions for the cloud.

Citrix Receiver for iPhone

Earlier in the month, Citrix analyst relations sent me a message laying out the company's plans to offer client software, a "Reciever" in Citrix-speak, allowing the iPhone to display Windows applications that are presented by Citrix's XenApp (formally presentation manager). Since I'm a big fan of making applications available "any time, anywhere, over any reasonable network and on any reasonable device," I applaud Citrix's efforts.

Nortel introducing new router with VoIP features

(via Network World) In just a little while from the time I am posting this, Nortel will introduce a new WAN router with VoIP features.Intended for corporate branch offices,  the Nortel Secure Router 4134 will be Microsoft and Nortel network-compliant, and as Network World notes, be dedicated to speeding up Web-based enterprise apps such as Microsoft Outlook, IBM WebSphere or SAP.
