Microsoft announces Quality of Experience (IP voice) Monitoring Server

Today at VoiceCon, Microsoft Gurdeep Singh Pall, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Unified Communications Group, has just announced a new Quality of Experience Monitoring Server. There are 35 data fields, including the average length of Office Communications Server phone calls for each user, device-specific performance metrics and problems, as well as packet and other analytical tools for individual calls.

For Vista, WGA gets tougher

For Windows Vista, Microsoft is rolling out a new version of its Windows Genuine Advantage program, complete with a new name: the Windows Software Protection Platform. This time, they mean business. Corporate customers have a new Volume Activation program, and anyone accused of piracy will be thrown into "reduced functionality" mode. Technically, it's not a kill switch, but for your Windows PC it's a near-death experience.

Microsoft names new privacy chief

Microsoft announced Monday that Peter Cullen, the corporate privacy officer for the Royal Bank of Canada, will be joining the software giant as its new chief privacy strategist. The top privacy officer has more than a decade of experience in the field, including establishing the Royal Bank of Canada's best practices for data handling in Canada and the United States, said the company in a statement.
