Google breaks ground on Taiwan datacentre

Google has started building a $300m (£189m) datacentre in Changhua County, Taiwan, to support expansion of its services across Asia.The datacentre will be Google's first to use a "nighttime cooling and thermal energy storage system" and, when finished, will provide 25 full-time jobs, the company wrote in an FAQ document about the facility.

Microsoft expands vast Dublin datacentre

Microsoft is ploughing $130m (£82m) into its huge Dublin datacentre in response to European demand for the company's technology services, it said.The investment will add a further 112,000 square feet of space to the existing 300,000-square foot facility, Stephen McGibbon, Microsoft chief technology officer in EMEA, said on Thursday.
