Last week, Skype announced they attained the 100 billion minute level in terms of  free Skype-to-Skype voice and video calls since Skype launched in 2003.As a representative of Skype just pointed out to me, frequently cited research that estimates the number of humans who have ever lived as 100 billion, that 100 billion level equates to one minute of free talk for every man, woman and child that has ever walked the Earth!

The sun rises on Google Earth

Google Earth has added a new layer in partnership with the Discovery Channel that lets you see video and photography of one of the natures most beautiful events -- sunrise.  The new feature can be enabled by following these steps:Find the "Layers" sectionExpand the "Featured Content" nodeExpand the "Discovery Network" nodeEnable the "Sunrise Earth" layer by placing a check mark in the box next to it.

Google Video Player for the Mac

Earlier this year Google released a version of Google Earth for the Mac and just recently Picasa was ported over to Linux using an implementation of Wine.  Now, another piece of software joins this group which now works on a Mac -- Google Video Player.

Google Base for sellers

Google has announced they have selected a few sellers to try accepting payment for their Google Base items.  The same payment system makes selling videos on Google Video, licenses for Google Earth, and items in the Google Store possible.
