Internet Explorer is still gaining market share

Microsoft's Internet Explorer has increased its market share for the third time in the past four months, according to numbers based on website access provided by Netmarketshare. The gains are very small, but the graph shows an unusual -- for IE -- upward trend.

Zamzar launches free file conversion via email

The Zamzar website, which converts files between formats, has launched a new service: it will now convert files submitted by email. This could be particular useful to smartphone users who are often emailed files that their device is unable to display.

O2 fixes mobile broadband number leaks

O2 has fixed a bug in the way it handles mobile broadband traffic that saw its customers unwittingly exposing their mobile phone numbers to website owners.The operator apologised for the apparent glitch on Wednesday, saying it had been caused by technical changes made during routine maintenance.

As the name implies, the market shares are calculated from website traffic, and thus may not precisely reflect the global installed base.

Hackers have broken into Lady Gaga's website and stolen thousands of personal details, according to the Guardian.The Swagsec hacker group stole Lady Gaga fans' details on 27 June, including names and email addresses.

The Guardian Jobs website has come under attack from a 'sophisticated and deliberate hack' that has exposed sensitive data, according to an email sent to affected users on Saturday.The breach is related to data submitted by people who have applied for a job via the Guardian Jobs site.
