Vodafone brings ex-T-Mobile USA chief on board

Vodafone has hired Phillipp Humm, who was until earlier this week the chief of T-Mobile USA, to head up its northern and central European operations.The operating region is a new one, as Vodafone also announced on Thursday that it was splitting its European business in two: northern and central Europe, and southern Europe.

T-Mobile cuts roaming rates for Europe

T-Mobile customers can now add broadband boosters to their monthly or Pay As You Go package to avoid unwelcome and unexpectedly large bills awaiting them on their return for things such as data usage.The new bolt-ons, called 'Internet Travel Boosters' and 'Broadband Travel Boosters' will allow a customer to add them to their package on arrival at their destination.

Mobile roaming law reaches final vote in Europe

European legislators will on Thursday vote on a comprehensive package aimed at reducing roaming charges for mobile data, voice and text messages across the continent.The European Parliament and Council have already negotiated a compromise deal that puts the new caps on roaming at a lower level than those originally proposed by the Commission, and the vote is the final stage in passing the legislation.
