Digital Storm promises "extreme performance" from new Black|Ops gaming PCs

They get scorn for selling systems that costs thousands, but even in this "great recession" many boutique PC builders have done a lot better than you might expect. Digital Storm has one of the best reputations among this clique (which includes Falcon Northwest, Maingear, and several others), and with its new Black|Ops desktop series, it's promising extreme performance starting at a relatively modest price.

Microsoft's Apple deja vu all over again

Am I the only one who see's Redmond's continued rehashing of the PC vs. Mac wars as a sign of weakness? This is especially true of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's recent comments (aka slam) saying the "tide has really turned back" on Apple, while pointing to the lamest Windows machines on the market.

Intel's Core i7 gets put to the test

Intel won't announce its new Core i7 chips until later this month, but the first real reviews are popping up all over the place today. Based on the early previews, I expected to see good numbers and Core i7, formerly known as Nehalem, delivers.

AMD Quad FX slaughtered by a single Intel CPU

All the reviews are in for AMD's new "4x4" Quad FX dual CPU platform and it loses nearly every single real world benchmark to a single Intel CPU while consuming more than twice the electricity.  We basically see two FX-74 3.
