It felt great to have full command of one's destiny, to report to no-one. To not have to climb any ladders or engage in corporate politics. It was invigorating to be one's own man and my own boss. I was an independent consulting badass.

Qantas annual profit soars to AU$975m

Australia's flying kangaroo is out of the red, having boosted its annual profit by over AU$1.6 billion, following its turbulent 2014 financial year. Notably, the airline's data-driven loyalty program, Red Planet, experienced a profitable inaugural year and qantas.com took off into the cloud.
