Nokia files suits against HTC, RIM and ViewSonic

Nokia has alleged that HTC, RIM and ViewSonic have infringed on 45 Nokia patents in lawsuits filed in the US and Germany.Nokia alleged on Wednesday that the companies have variously infringed on patents covering dual function antennas, power management and multimode radios, application stores, multitasking, navigation, conversational message display, dynamic menus, data encryption and retrieval of email attachments on a mobile device.

Apple wins Motorola injunction over gallery scrolling

Apple has won another patent-related injunction against Motorola in Germany, this time over a photo-gallery function in Motorola's Android phones.However, Motorola says it has already worked round the function in question, so it is unaffected by the Munich regional court ruling on Thursday.

Google defends stance on FRAND patent terms

Google will not offer Motorola's standards-essential patents on unreasonable or discriminatory terms, the company has promised the IEEE standards body and the wider mobile industry.Google, which is buying Motorola, made the commitment in a letter to the IEEE on Wednesday, a day after it emerged that Apple had complained over "a lack of consistent adherence" in the mobile industry to the principles of fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) licensing terms for standards-essential patents.
