Developers invited to create HTC-only Android apps

HTC has launched a developer site to encourage coders to write apps specifically for its Sense Android user interface.The manufacturer is planning to release an OpenSense software development kit (SDK), chief executive Peter Chou said on Thursday at Qualcomm's Uplinq conference, where he also claimed that HTC was now the second-biggest Android developer after Google itself.

I am currently own the Galaxy Tab and the HTC EVO 4G, and happily so. I test a lot of other devices and that has led me to realize there are 11 essential Android apps I install on every device I use.

HTC Desire HD Review

The HTC Desire HD may be too large for some users, and the new e-book reader and navigation apps left us somewhat cold. Battery life could be an issue too. However, the large screen is excellent for media-rich activities like web browsing and makes text entry easier.

Vodafone to remove branding with Android 2.2

Vodafone has reversed its decision to bring the much-maligned Vodafone 360 services and branding update to the HTC Desire.The branding update, which added a number of irremovable apps to the homescreen as well as a new Vodafone 'splash' screen, started rolling out on 3 August but unhappy customers' comments quickly flooded the operator's own support forum.

Vodafone pulls Desire 360 update

Vodafone has informed ZDNet UK that it has 'temporarily suspended' the HTC Desire update that brought new desktop shortcuts, branding and Vodafone 360 apps to the handset.A company spokesperson said that the decision to suspend the software update was based on a "small number of customer reports around the performance of the service on their device".
