China telcos to invest $3.7B in IT

By 2017, the Chinese telecom industry is expected to spend 22.8 billion yuan (US$3.7 billion) in IT-related investments, according to IDC, which recommends telcos extract value from existing customers and big data.

Ex-Acer boss tipped for Samsung job

Gianfranco Lanci, the Italian who transformed Taiwan's Acer, is being tipped to join its Korean rival Samsung Electronics, according to an unconfirmed report in the Taiwan-based news source, DigiTimes. The story also confirms that Samsung is the world's seventh largest notebook PC manufacturer "according to IDC data".

IDC: Dollarwise, Windows still leads the server market

The researchers at International Data Corp. (IDC) released their latest worldwide server market share data this week. As was true in the last quarter of 2009, Windows servers are far and away the leader in share as measured by of percentage of revenue, the firm found.
