Designers and developers in a range of creative professions can now get their hands on Adobe's new Creative Suite 5, which ships today.Whether the new features in updated versions of stalwarts like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash and Premiere Pro are worth the prices Adobe charges is a subject of debate every time a new Creative Suite appears.

No Flash or WPF/E in the Wal-Mart movie deal hurts customers

Wal-Mart splashed into the downloadable video world today by announcing that they're selling digital copies of movies from ALL of the major studios on their new website. But the behemoth that is Wal-Mart decided to disregard cross platform entirely and only support Windows. Why do that when there is a perfectly good cross platform video solution with Flash? Because of DRM.

Google Video and Flash

Ming offers a flexible, easy way to create dynamic Flash with PHP

Macromedia Flash has become a widely popular Web presentation tool because users need a little glitz to maintain their interest. Unfortunately, using ActionScript to create dynamic movies can be limiting, and Macromedia has announced plans to discontinue the Flash Generator product in favor of Flash MX support in Cold Fusion. So where does that leave your Web site? Once again, PHP saves the day. You can easily use the Ming PHP library to dynamically generate Flash movies and seamlessly integrate them into your scripts.

Macromedia Flash picks up a virus

Antivirus company Sophos reported a new type of virus that infects Flash movies. The new program, named SWF/LFM-926, does little but infect Flash files on a PC when the movie is played.
