HP Acquires LeftHand Networks, Virtualized iSCSI Storage Vendor

Today, HP announced the intention to acquire iSCSI storage vendor LeftHand Networks for $360 Million in cash. LeftHand makes virtualized storage array software that can turn just about any server, PC or subset of disks on a device into a full featured IP based SAN array with features like space efficient snapshots, distance replication support and thin provisioning.

Cisco 851W and 871W multi-SSID template

The article and template for the Cisco 851W and 871W standard IOS editions have been posted. The Cisco 851W is less than $300 and it can host multiple virtual wireless LANs along with many other features like VPNs and Firewalls. Last time when I did a tutorial on the Cisco 871W Advanced IP IOS edition ($700), a lot of people couldn't use it because they only had the standard edition. This article and template will work on the 851W and 871W with the standard feature set.

Cisco 871W Wireless Router does it all

For a device that costs a little more than $500 (some features like BGP or QoS require an Advanced IP IOS license), you certainly get your money's worth. For IT departments that want to offer a seamless router-based IPSEC VPN connection to remote workers but don't want to extent the security perimeter to untrusted computers in an employee at home, the Cisco 871W is one of the most effective ways of doing it.
