Cisco to buy Inlet Technologies

Cisco is planning to buy privately-held Inlet Technologies — a digital media processing platform specialist — in a bid to bolster its Videoscape platform, the company said on Friday.Cisco says that Inlet's expertise in adaptive bit rate (ABR) media platforms will provide a better experience for service providers wanting to deliver video and other multimedia content to their customers across a range of devices.

CES 2010 wrapup from a mobile perspective

Now that I am back and fully recovered from CES, I wanted to create a summary post of my coverage to serve as a resource for future product and service announcements so I can see what I thought at the time I was exposed to them in Vegas. I also learned another CES lesson and that was to skip the CES Unveiled event and tack on a day at the other end so I can spend more time covering the show floor. Digital Experience was great as it always is and I actually found Showstoppers to be the best one I have been to yet, except for the lack of large displays showing the national championship football game. Overall, I was pleased to be back at CES this year after skipping it for CTIA last year and look forward to the event in 2011.
