CSC to axe 640 Lorenzo jobs, says Unite union

US company CSC is to cut 640 UK jobs relating to its 'unworkable' Lorenzo NHS IT contract, taking the total of announced job cuts to over 1,100 since February, according to the Unite trade union.The majority of cuts will affect CSC employees in Chesterfield, Chorley, Leeds and Solihull, Unite said in a statement on Monday.

Union may call industrial action over HP outsourcing

A major union may call industrial action over HP's outsourcing of 200 government IT support jobs from UK sites to Bangalore in India.The affected workers, at sites in Newcastle, Lytham St Annes and Sheffield, provide IT support to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Symbian Foundation job losses to hit UK hardest

Dozens of London-based Symbian Foundation employees are set to lose their jobs as a result of the foundation's transition to being a licensing organisation.Symbian Foundation chief Tim Holbrow told ZDNet UK on Tuesday that around 75 of the 100 foundation employees are based in Southwark, with the rest being spread across the US, Japan, China, Korea and Australia.
