Cameraphones drive online photo-sharing

Cameraphones are now the main way that consumers share photos, rather than by email, according to a survey of 2,000 British and American consumers by Futuresource Consulting. The results are frequently viewed on a laptop or netbook PC by UK consumers, though "consumers in the USA tend to use the desktop PC," the company says.

DiData kicks off BYO device trial

Dimension Data chief information officer (CIO) Ian Jansen today revealed that the IT services company is in the preliminary stages of a bring-your-own (BYO) device trial that will see staff offered a choice between the traditional company desktop computer or their own consumer laptop or tablet devices.

HP introduces Pavilion, ProBook laptops with AMD's new Llano APUs

AMD's new A-series, or "Llano," Accelerated Processing Units -- which combine CPU cores with Radeon HD graphics cores on a single chip -- is off to a good start with HP's announcement that a whopping 11 different Pavilion and ProBook laptops will offer the new processors starting either later this month or in July.Unfortunately, HP hasn't disclosed which APUs will be available for which laptops, but the company has announced the particular laptop families that will support Llano.

Apple slips faster SSD drive from Samsung into its MacBook Airs

It's a bit ironic that after Samsung releases its competitor to the MacBook Air in the form of the Series 9 notebook, the same company is responsible for giving Apple's ultraportable laptop a bit of speed boost. That's because new MacBook Airs are shipping with a new, faster solid state drive apparently from Samsung after initially coming with a Toshiba SSD.
