UK is being smoked by Windows Phone

Microsoft's 'Smoked by Windows Phone' challenge, introduced at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, has finally reached the UK under a new name, 'Dare To Live'. Microsoft's Windows Phone teams kicked off the campaign this weekend in London, visiting Oxford Street, Camden, Shoreditch, Tottenham Court Road and Westfield (White City).

Jam tomorrow: Dell unwraps its Christmas offerings

Dell showed off a raft of new products in London yesterday, including the Inspiron Duo netbook/tablet, an all-in-one touch screen PC, an M101z netbook, and the latest Dell Streak mobile phone. One of Dell's staff also had a Venue Pro running Windows Phone 7.

Ballmer: Too much fine print in Microsoft licences

Microsoft could do more to simplify its software licensing, according to the company's chief executive Steve Ballmer. Speaking at a Windows 7 event in London on Monday, he said that Microsoft's licence terms could be made clearer, but that any simplifications could result in extra costs for its customers.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 media preview event in London

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is one of the most anticipated Windows Mobile devices given that SE is joining the ranks of Windows Mobile and the unique design features. With a confirmed T-Mobile USA 3G version coming I will be buying this device to use with my T-Mobile account as soon as I can. Today Sony Ericsson held an exclusive media preview event in London and Paul at MoDaCo covered it live. Arne Hess also posted a video with some hands-on time with the XPERIA X1.

HTC announces the Diamond with 3D TouchFLO

It seems to be tough for Windows Mobile OEMs to keep the lid on new products and HTC has as much trouble as everyone else since all the details on the HTC Diamond were revealed online last week. That didn't stop HTC from holding a special event in London to announce a single device, the HTC Diamond. The Diamond is a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional device with an innovative new TouchFLO 3D UI. It will be available in Europe in June and elsewhere in the second half of 2008. There is no pricing information available yet.

HTC is kicking off a North American campaign and holding a London event on May 6th

There is lots of speculation surrounding the special invite-only May 6th HTC event being held for 100 selected members of the press in London. Are we going to see a Google Android device, a new HTC form factor Windows Mobile device, or another iteration of an existing Windows Mobile device? Arne over at th::unwired posted a leaked photo submitted to Mobile Review that shows possibly two new HTC devices. HTC is also kicking off a new North American brand campaign to create more brand awareness of their excellent Windows Mobile products.

Heroes happen on Microsoft's big day

Microsoft have billed today’s triple UK launch of Windows Server 2008 along with SQL Server and Visual Studio at the Wellcome Centre in central London. Microsoft is demanding the full attention of a lot of journalists (possible as many as 60 all told) to outline the new products.
