Bletchley Park 'database' building listed

A building that housed mechanical equipment used by World War II code-breakers has been given Grade II listed status by the UK government.Block C at Bletchley Park housed mechanical card-indexing machines used in cracking high level German Enigma codes.

Olympic torch to visit Bletchley Park

The Olympic flame will come to Bletchley Park on its 2012 journey to London, the home of UK World War Two code-breaking has announced.The Bletchley Park Trust is in the process of negotiating the exact route that the Olympic torch and its entourage will take around the grounds of the park on 9 July 2012, trust director Simon Greenish told ZDNet UK on Monday.

Google kicks off Bletchley Park fundraising drive

Google has started fundraising to save the derelict Block C at Bletchley Park, the site where British codebreaking helped shorten World War II.Block C had once been home the complex's punched card index — "in essence, the search engine at the heart of Bletchley Park's decryption activity", Google EMEA external relations chief Peter Barron said in a blog post on Friday — and the search giant has now teamed up with the Bletchley Park Trust to help fund its rebuilding.

Microsoft warns of phone phishing scam

Phishers posing as computer security experts are targeting individuals and businesses to steal money and install malicious software on their computers.In a survey of 7,000 people, 15 percent across the UK, US, Ireland and Canada reported receiving a call from scammers, Microsoft said on Thursday.
