Canonical updates Ubuntu Landscape management platform

Canonical has enhanced the systems management tool for Ubuntu desktop, servers and cloud instances. Landscape is available as part of Ubuntu Advantage subscription and has been updated with roles-based access control, better compliance reporting, a robust API, bare metal provisioning and enhanced integration with Ubuntu 12.04, the company said.

Red Hat regains mischief-maker role with metadata vendor acquisition

Red Hat also announced that it will be increasingly bundling products and services to make a platform-like acquisition mode for its wares, moving away from the ala carte approach. I've been expecting this since Red Hat acquired a slew of the old Netscape server components several years ago -- and then double-downed on by the acquisition of JBoss last year.
