Nasuni study pokes holes in OpenStack

Clouds based on open-source OpenStack software may not be as good at ingesting large amounts of data as those from Microsoft or Amazon, a study has found.The study evaluated Amazon Web Services, Windows Azure and Rackspace Cloud Files, and was released by cloud storage specialist Nasuni on Wednesday.

Microsoft files antitrust complaint against Motorola

Microsoft has lodged formal competition charges against Motorola Mobility, the mobile and handset division of Motorola, with the European Commission for alleged abuse of licensing terms for standards-essential patents.The filing follows a similar antitrust complaint from Apple which came to light on 17 February and could lead to a full investigation of Motorola's Mobility's (MMI) patent licensing agreements, according to software patent expert Florian Mueller.

Microsoft brings SkyDrive to iOS and Windows Phone

Microsoft has released SkyDrive apps for the Windows Phone Mango and the Apple iOS platforms that allows users to access, share or remove files stored in SkyDrive folders.The Windows Phone and iOS apps allow SkyDrive users to browse all files and folders regardless of file type.

Emergency Adobe Flash Player patch coming today

Less than a week after warning that hackers were embedding malicious Flash Player files (.swf) into Microsoft Word documents to launch targeted malware attacks, Adobe plans to release an emergency Flash Player patch today to fix the underlying problem.
