ThinkPads get mobile broadband as Lenovo goes MVNO

Lenovo has become a mobile broadband operator with the introduction of Mobile Access, a global cellular data service for 3G-enabled ThinkPads.Unveiled on Monday, Lenovo Mobile Access allows both pay-as-you-go and monthly usage, and is immediately available in the UK, eight other European countries and the US.

Carphone Warehouse has joined 3 in offering truly unlimited data for mobile customers, albeit on a trial basis.People signing up to the company's Talkmobile mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), which resells Vodafone connectivity, will be able to get unlimited internet access on their smartphones as part of contracts starting at £12 a month.

Saudi Arabian telecom market to enjoy growth this year

A recent IDC study showed that mobile services subscriptions and spending in Saudi Arabia is set to undergo tremendous growth in 2004, fueled by strong pent-up demand from a large yet under penetrated addressable market. The licensing of a second mobile operator by the end of 2004 and the possible introduction of an MVNO in 2005 are expected to provide further impetus for market growth in 2005 and beyond.
