The IEEE Standards Association has launched two working groups to contribute to cloud computing standards.Cloud technologies need to be interoperable to allow businesses to switch between services, IEEE said in a statement on Monday.

Europe backs open standards in interoperability drive

The European Commission has published its long-awaited interoperability framework for public services, recommending that open standards be given preference over proprietary alternatives where possible.The new European Interoperability Framework (EIF), released on Thursday, includes a recommendation that, "when establishing European public services, public administrations should prefer open specifications, taking due account of the coverage of functional needs, maturity and market support".

The MPSA is asking all members to take a few minutes to complete these surveys and help the PWG support the Managed Print Services Industry. The Printer Working Group is a Program of the IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (ISTO) and its members include most of the major printer manufacturers.
