Vizio's CinemaWide 58-inch 3D HDTV priced at $3,499, but who's buying?

Vizio is taking a chance that there's a set of TV buyers who is looking to recreate the ultra-widescreen experience of the movie theater in its living rooms. The company introduced its new CinemaWide set, which uses a 21:9 aspect ratio instead of the 16:9 aspect ratio of conventional HDTVs, at CES last month, and has just put a (big) price tag on it.

If Siri is the key to an Apple TV, what will Google do about it?

All signs point to the cryptic comment recorded in the new Steve Jobs bio -- that he "finally cracked" the right way to create an Apple television -- referring to Siri as the key to a super-simple living room experience. The New York Times surmises that a voice-controlled TV is in Apple's future, with potentially revolutionary ramifications.

CES: Intel unveils Sandy Bridge, plays up video enhancements

LAS VEGAS - Intel today unveiled the second generation of its Core processors - codenamed "Sandy Bridge" -  playing up the visual elements that will create a new experience in computing, the company said.In a standing-room-only press conference at the Venetian Hotel, company CEO Paul Otellini talked about the next evolution of the PC and the push into evolving categories, including televisions, cars, digital signs and home automation systems.
