Does Google+ need Zynga-style games to succeed?

Google this week launched, in beta form, its Facebook-like collection of sharing and social networking tools, called Google+ (or Google Plus, in conversation). It’s about half tweaked versions of existing Google tools, such as chat (video and text), profiles, and ‘like’-style link promotion, along with some new features, including Circles and Hangouts (a related-interest network and group chat room, respectively).

CES: Dell unveils new Streak, hints at 10-inch version for businesses coming soon

Dell today unveiled a 7-inch version of its Streak Tablet, a nice piece of hardware that utilizes 4G technology - well, T-Mobile's version of 4G technology. The device, as expected, touts some of the must-haves that all of the players in the tablet space are touting these days: strong processors, widgets and apps, gaming capabilities, rear- and front-facing cameras for video chatting, as well as social networking apps and widgets.

Does Cisco buying Skype make sense?

If you ever watched the later seasons of 24, you'll recall that Jack and his buddies at the Counter Terrorist Unit were always using Cisco Telepresence for video-conferencing. That was no surprise. John Chambers, Cisco's CEO, has long thought that Cisco should be thought of as not just the big dog of networking, but of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and video-conferencing as well.

In addition, Juniper Networks is a strong No. 2 to Cisco among telecommunication firms and enterprises. With video consumption set to explode, networking requirements will boom too.
