Why Windows Phone is barely making a dent in the market

Microsoft has put a lot of dollars and effort into Windows Phone, even going as far as to buy Finnish handset firm Nokia in order to gain traction in the smartphone space. But despite this investment Windows Phone's usage share has grown from about one percent to around two percent over the past 12 months.

Dual-OS devices dead on arrival

It looks like Huawei's dual-OS smartphone is going the way of the Asus Transformer Book Duet. The concept of a device that can run both Android and Windows holds a lot of appeal. But as long as Google, Microsoft and Apple have competing ecosystems, it is unlikely to see the light of day.

Mozilla shows off $25 Firefox OS smartphone prototype

While Apple is focused on spreading premium-prices smartphones across the globe, browser maker Mozilla has its sights aimed squarely on the low-cost smartphone market and has announced a deal for a chipset which it said will pave the way for $25 smartphones.
