ThinkPads get mobile broadband as Lenovo goes MVNO

Lenovo has become a mobile broadband operator with the introduction of Mobile Access, a global cellular data service for 3G-enabled ThinkPads.Unveiled on Monday, Lenovo Mobile Access allows both pay-as-you-go and monthly usage, and is immediately available in the UK, eight other European countries and the US.

Apple upset at censored Samsung docs

In its attempt to show that Samsung was discriminating against it when licensing 3G patents, Apple has managed to get a hold of some of the 3G patent licensing agreements Samsung has with other mobile phone vendors, but has complained that much of the crucial information, including royalty payments has been redacted from the agreements.

German iPhone, iPad sales temporarily banned

Apple was forced to remove several iOS devices from sale on its German online store on Thursday as a result of its patent battles with Motorola.The iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and 3G iPads are currently not available from the company's web store in Germany following a ruling in favour of Motorola relating to FRAND-pledged patents declared essential to 3G standards.

Samsung denied German 3G patent claim against Apple

Samsung has been denied its second 3G patent claim against Apple by a German court.The Mannheim regional court in Germany rejected Samsung's complaint against Apple related to the 3G wireless standard on Friday but did not state a specific reason at the ruling, according to software patents expert, Florian Mueller.

HTC gets injunction against German patent firm

HTC has won a temporary injunction against the German patent licensing firm IPCom, forcing it to stop threatening retailers with legal action for stocking HTC's 3G-capable products.The Taiwanese manufacturer said on Friday that IPCom's threats were "unjustified".
