Adobe turns to designing code

On the 20th anniversary of Photoshop, it's easy to think of Adobe as being all about images and media but with products like Dreamweaver and Flash Builder the company also has a lot of interest in making it easier to write lines of code.At the Sneak Peeks session at its MAX conference (hosted in style by William Shatner and full of obligatory Star Trek jokes), Adobe showed off several features that might make it into future products to make developers' lives easier.

Google introduces the Nexus One smartphone

At Google's headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., Google VP of Product Management Mario Queiroz and Android Senior Product Manager Erick Tseng demo the new Google Nexus One smartphone, or as he calls it, "superphone." The new phone is made with HTC hardware and runs Google's Android 2.1 OS. Some of the features include GPS with Google Maps and turn-by-turn navigation, an accelerometer, a virtual keyboard, a light sensor for adjusting the display to save battery power, a proximity sensor, a compass, a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash, Wi-Fi, a new media gallery interface with access to Picasa and YouTube, Facebook access, and stereo Bluetooth.

Microsoft to preview two Silverlight 4 features

Microsoft is slated to show off two features that it is incorporating into the next version of Silverlight, its Internet Explorer plug-in alternative to Adobe Flash at the International Broadcasting Conference (IBC) in Amsterdam, which kicks off on September 11.

iPhone 3G S with new camera features debuts today

The new iPhone 3G S debuts today, with a number of brand new digital camera features, including an 3 megapixel auto-focus camera, compared with 2 megapixels on the 3G model. Even though there still isn't flash (but I'm not a big fan of flash photography anyway), users can adjust white balance and tap an object in the frame to focus on that subject.
