Qualcomm has moved to get developers writing apps specifically for Android devices running Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipset, by giving them a software development kit for the platform.The SDK was announced on Tuesday at the Uplinq 2012 developers' conference.

Qualcomm, TI, Nvidia offer new ARM chips for Windows 8

Texas Instruments and Qualcomm, two of the biggest suppliers of ARM-based processors in the smartphone market, have announced chips intended to run Microsoft Windows 8. Their arrival (probably) next year will help answer a number of interesting questions about the relative power, performance, and price of Intel and ARM chips, and the efficiency of modern versions of Windows compared with the Linux-based Google Android operating system.

MWC 2011: LG Revolution spotted running Netflix

CES 2010: Hey Nokia, HTC isn't going to let you rest in the low end market

One reason I really enjoy HTC's Android devices is because of their Sense UI that adds a LOT of functionality to the platform. Today at CES 2010 we heard from HTC that they are taking this experience to the masses in the form of the HTC Smart that runs HTC Sense on Qualcomm Brew Mobile Platform. This should be a wake-up call for Nokia that they cannot rest on their laurels even in the emerging and low end mobile phone market. This additional strategy makes perfect sense to me as HTC seeks to be one of the leaders in all areas of the mobile phone market.

Asus Eee PC spotted running Android, Qualcomm CPU

Looks like several reporters at Computex Taipei 2009 have noticed an Asus Eee PC netbook that had the Google Android operating system installed and a 1GHz Qualcomm CPU under the hood.Qualcomm was behind the system, designed to demonstrate its low-power Snapdragon platform, which can support 720p video, a 12MP camera and 1280x720 WXGA resolution.

HTC will be launching an Android handset in the 2nd half of 2008

I am listening into the conference call between Google, T-Mobile, HTC, Qualcomm and Motorola where the Open Handset Alliance and Android open source platform was announced. Eric Schmidt, Chairman and CEO of Google Inc., Andy Rubin, Director of Mobile Platforms, Google Inc., René Obermann, CEO of Deutsche Telekom, parent company of T-Mobile, Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corp., Paul Jacobs, CEO of Qualcomm, and Ed Zander, Chairman and CEO of Motorola, Inc. made the announcement together and discussed their companies involvement in the new endeavor. The Open Handset Alliance, composed of 34 companies, is quite a departure from the standard for the U.S. wireless business and will have significant impacts across the world.
