HP preps updated ProLiant Gen 8 servers

HP has announced updates for its ProLiant Generation 8 server line, which HP has said increase datacentre automation, compared with previous HP servers.Five of the new servers, which are part of its HP's Project Voyager push will use Intel Xeon E5-2400 processors.

Ivy Bridge servers and more to come

Although Intel has yet to green-light products based on its Xeon E3-1200 v2 family of server processors, that hasn't stopped Dell jumping the gun and announcing plans to use the new chips, based on the 22nm Ivy Bridge architecture, to boost the performance and lower the TDP of its PowerEdge C5220 microserver platform.Don't be fooled by the 'microserver' tag here.

Fujitsu releases Xeon-based Primergy servers

Fujitsu has launched a family of energy-efficient dual socket Primergy servers based around Intel's yet-to-be released Xeon 'Romley' processors.The Primergy Dual Socket Generation of servers was launched worldwide on Monday, along with the Primergy CX400 S1, a multi-node server designed for cloud and high-performance computing.

Xeon E5 - nearly here...
