Apple rebrands iPad 4G as 'Wi-Fi + Cellular' for UK

Apple has removed all references to '4G' data speeds on its new iPad following a similar move in Australia.The company told ZDNet UK in a statement that it had removed references to 4G connectivity to simplify customers' understanding of the product, as different countries use different terms for wireless standards.

Samsung denied German 3G patent claim against Apple

Samsung has been denied its second 3G patent claim against Apple by a German court.The Mannheim regional court in Germany rejected Samsung's complaint against Apple related to the 3G wireless standard on Friday but did not state a specific reason at the ruling, according to software patents expert, Florian Mueller.

Verizon joins in Samsung's fight against Apple

The US mobile network operator Verizon Wireless has stepped into the legal battle between Apple and Samsung, asking a Californian court not to ban Samsung's 4G Android devices over alleged patent infringement.In July, Apple filed with the US District Court for the Northern District of California for a preliminary injunction against Samsung's Galaxy S 4G, Infuse 4G and Droid Charge smartphones, as well as its Galaxy Tab 10.
