Senate Committee finds FttN NBN 'inadequate', recommends FttP

The Senate Select Committee on the NBN has found the government's fibre-to-the-node (FttN) model is "inadequate", criticised the government's NBN Strategic Review for fudging its numbers to support the FttN model, and recommended that NBN Co be "unshackled" to continue the FttP rollout free from political interference.

NASA switches off last mainframe

NASA has shut down its last mainframe, the space agency's chief information officer announced over the weekend.Linda Cureton said on Saturday that some organisations still needed the transaction-oriented capabilities of Big Iron, which allows for huge numbers of inputs and outputs, but NASA was not one of them.

Is Mozilla artificially boosting Firefox's version number?

It seems that Mozilla are in a rush to push Firefox into higher version numbers as fast as possible. Mozilla's explanation for the increase in version number turnover is that it has moved to 'rapid development cycle' to get new features into the hands of users as quickly as possible, but looking at Mozilla's roadmap I'm not so sure.
