Google targets iPhone and iPad users with Chrome and Drive

Google has released an iOS version of its Chrome browser, after taking the Android version out of beta earlier this week.In a blog post on Thursday, Chrome chief Sundar Pichai said the move would give users "a consistent, personalised web experience across all devices".

Google kills BlackBerry Gmail app

Google is to stop supporting the native Gmail app for BlackBerry smartphones later this month.The company said in an "end-of life announcement" that the app will be effectively killed off on 22 November, as Google has "focused efforts on building a great Gmail experience in the mobile browser" instead.

Firefox 4 release candidate delivered to developers

Mozilla has finished work on Firefox 4 and posted the release candidate, aimed at developers, for a final bug check before its full public launch.The browser, which was posted in the FTP section of the developer pages on Friday, brings a redesigned UI, a more Chrome-like tabbed browsing experience and support for HTML 5 to the browser.
