3G iPod touch in two to three months?

Earlier this month several manufacturers began shipping cases for the iPod touch with camera holes on the rear purportedly to accommodate the addition of a camera and/or microphone, like its bigger brother the iPhone. Its almost certain that the case fabs aren't in possession of any real details about the upcoming iPod touch (or nano) revisions but are instead making cases based on rumors about the new hardware.

Now that it's official that Apple will be holding a special "Let's Rock" media event in San Francisco on Tuesday let's take a look under the curtain to see what announcements may be in store from Cupertino. It's pretty apparent that new iPods are in the offing, mostly because the invitation clearly shows and iPod display (not to mention the campy "Let's Rock" theme) and because new iPods have been announced at the last two three years' September events.

MobileTechRoundup show #112, iPhone update, Palm Centro, N95-3

Kevin and I discussed the newest iPhone firmware update to kick off MobileTechRoundup show #112 and James still has no interest in getting the iPhone, although the iPod Touch may soon be in his collection. I may be upgrading my Slingbox Classic to a SOLO soon and am loving the N95 SlingPlayer Mobile client. The US N95-3 is available now for US$699 and this may be the next device on my list to obtain. The Palm Centro is coming soon to Sprint at only US$99, but James doesn't think it will have much of an impact on the smartphone market. Kevin and I chime in with our thoughts too. Is the Apple mobile device just wishful thinking or will we see something in 2008? Office Mobile 6.1 as a stand-alone application was linked online, but then pulled. It will be coming soon though so stay tuned if you want this Office software for your mobile device.
