When you think Toshiba, you think notebooks (and TVs), but the company is also doing a thriving line in accessories. Its Dynadock U10 universal docking station is already the best-selling USB docking station on the market, says Toshiba storage business manager Graeme Simons (especially in the public sector where purchasing switches between different notebook brands and models frequently, so dedicated docking stations just don’t work).

Pricing gap shrinks between top-tier, value HDTV makers

With the recession still slogging on, it's hard for premium TV manufacturers like Samsung and Toshiba to keep market share at significantly higher prices than "bargain" brands like Vizio and Westinghouse. So it should come as no surprise that a new report from market research firm iSuppli finds that the pricing difference between premium and value sets is narrowing.

CES 2009: Toshiba's 'wall-leaning' LCD TV concept [day 3]

I didn't get a chance to attend Toshiba's press conference, so I made sure to stop by their booth. Here's a strange conceptual design for a "lean against the wall" TV they had on display:It's supposed to remove the need for mounting hardware or a TV cabinet or stand, but I'm not sure that's a major problem that needed addressing.

CES 2009: Intel recruits Comcast, Samsung, Toshiba for its Widget Channel Internet TV initiative

While Yahoo has been grabbing headlines this week with its partnerships with TV makers like Samsung and Vizio to bring its Internet TV widget platform to new sets, Intel wants to make sure people remember that it also introduced the underlying API with Yahoo last fall at the Intel Developers Forum. Its strategy rests more (though not completely) on getting its Widget Channel platform into new set-top boxes, and it has a few partners of its own readying products.
