BT scores £100m European Parliament deal

BT has begun supplying €120m worth of networked IT kit, software and services to the European Parliament under a five-year agreement, the company said on Tuesday.The deal, worth £100m at current exchange rates, involves two framework contracts that have seen BT Global Services take over the provision of IP telephony, unified communications, videoconferencing, telepresence, security and internet access services at the parliament's Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg sites.

The federal Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has flagged plans to migrate to a hybrid Internet Protocol-based (IP) telephony system, keeping its options open on a full unified communications move. DAFF is a super-department overseeing some 13 agencies, with the overall aim of ensuring more sustainable, competitive and profitable Australian agriculture, food, fisheries and forestry industries.
